Customs ASO foils bid to smuggle non duty paid cigarettes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO)  has seized smuggled cigarettes worth Rs8,50,000 involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 3,25,000.

ASO Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani after receiving information regarding the smuggling attempt made a team following the instructions of Collector Muhammad sadiq to foil the smuggling bid.

The team comprising Superintendent Sardar Muhammad, Inspector umar bhatti, Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir Ahmed and Sepoys Hafiz Naseer Ahmed, Zulfiqar Ali Awan, Liaqat Ali and Muhammad Ashraf raided outside near larri adda Faisalabad and found of different brands Cigarettes including Dunhill, Milano cigarettes and others from a loader rickshaw, which was being used for the transportation of the items from M/s Al Atif Goods Forwarding Agency to city area.

The customs officials asked the accused persons those identified as Khuram Altaf and Adnan Arif to produced legally documents regarding possession of cigarette. But they failed to provide the same.

Later, the seizure report was submitted to the adjudication department for further investigation after confiscating the cigarettes.
