FBR Member Legal Dr. Tariq visits Customs Collectorate, RTO

PESHAWAR: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member Legal Dr. Tariq Masood visited Regional Tax Office, Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar and Regional Tax Office, Rawalpindi and held meetings with senior officers.

FBR Member apprised the FBR officers about the common issues leading to tax litigation and the recent measures taken by the FBR to strengthen the management to fight the cases in courts.

The Member Legal placed special emphasis on avoiding common mistakes and discussed the shortcomings which generally give rise to litigation against the department.

Among various issues discussed, the FBR Member highlighted the policy guidelines issued by FBR about placement of advocates on FBR’s panel and instructions to be followed by departmental representatives.

It was also emphasized that field formations actively pursue the pending litigation cases in order to actualize the legitimate government revenue.

On these occasions, the FBR Member Legal announced two months basic salary award to appreciate the work of Inland Revenue Officers of Peshawar namely Muhammad Khan and Muhammad Humayun Khan, with regard to the assistance they provide to the Peshawar High Court and presented them appreciation certificates to acknowledge their diligence and hard work.
