NAB to investigate Rs200m embezzlement in polio vaccination projects

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided on Thursday to launch an inquiry into the alleged embezzlement of Rs200 million in funds allocated to polio vaccination projects in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

A meeting chaired by NAB KP Director General Farooq Naseer Awan decided to initiate the probe against officials of the Fata Health Directorate regarding “corruption and corrupt practices,” a press release issued by NAB said.

A probe against police officers in Bannu was also among others approved in the meeting. “It is alleged that the subjects have embezzled funds allocated for the travelling allowance and daily allowance (TA/DA) of police personnel,” the statement said.
