PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Customs House Peshawar has foiled the biggest bid of 2018 of smuggling smart phones priced at more than Rs55millions.

The seizure case was handled by the staff of the MCC Peshawar ASO Nowshehra Unit on Tuesday on GT road when a container laden vehicle was stopped for a routine checking and the container was found loaded with smart phones, cloths and a number of other electronic goods.

The ASO asked for the documents but he failed to describe the genres of goods for which the driver was arrested and goods along with vehicles were impounded and shifted to Customs Station Nowshehra.

The description of goods includes mobile phones, cloths and other electronic items like TVs and dish sets.

Collector Customs Gull Rahman lauded the efforts made by the Customs ASO Nowshehra and Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Model Customs Collectorate for anti-smuggling campaign which earned millions by impounding NDP goods and vehicles.

This has been the first big seizure of the year 2018 for which customs officials deserve appreciation.
