Customs Preventive Hyderabad impounds tanker filled with diesel

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Customs Preventive Hyderabad, has taken into possession 20,000 liters of smuggling High Speed Iranian diesel along with an oil tanker. The market value of the impounded diesel is Rs2million including duties and taxes along with an oil tanker valued at Rs5million. The execution was carried out at Bolhari Kotri Road January 17, 2018.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Collector Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq ordered the curbing of smuggling. Additional Collector Hyderabad Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of Iranian diesel.

He formed an ASO team, comprising Superintendent Sikander Akbar Panhwar, Inspectors Iqbal Mughal, Inspector Abid Ali Khan, sepoys Ghulam Sarwar, Hawaldar M Aslam, Driver Mukhtiar and other staff, who took part in the operation.

The team intercepted the oil tanker with registration No: TUA-576 and recovered the said quantity of smuggling HSD Iranian diesel.

Prior to the recovery, the ASO had asked the occupants of the vehicle for producing the legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle and diesel but they failed to do so. The ASO team confiscated the diesel besides impounding the oil tanker under the customs bylaws.
