AMSTERDAM: Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the total volume of goods exports grew by 9.4 percent in November 2017 relative to November 2016. Relative growth was higher than in October 2017. In November, exports of machinery, appliances and cars increased again most notably. The volume of imports was 5.3 percent up on November2016. Import growth was also higher than in the preceding month. Every month, CBS also publishes updates on the circumstances for exports in the Exports Radar. Conditions are strongly affected by recent developments on the main export markets for Dutch products and by the competitive position of the Netherlands. Although the Radar indicators show a strong correlation with export activity, improved circumstances are not necessarily translated into increased export growth. According to the CBS Exports Radar, circumstances for Dutch exports in January are, on balance, the same as in November. The growth of German manufacturing output improved, while the real effective exchange rate was less favourable.
