FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad conducted various operations against smugglers on the special instructions of Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa and recovered smuggling goods worth Rs10.1million involving customs duties and taxes to the tune of Rs6million during third week of January.
Sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani constituted a team to curb smuggling. The ASO team, consisting of Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Superintendent Inspector, Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir, Umar Bhatti and Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (Sepoys), impounded non-duty-paid crockery with a carrier vehicle weighed 14135-kg worth Rs7million and Suzuki Jimni Jeep bearing registration No: LEI-15-5916, Model 1991, valued at Rs400000, polyester dyed fabrics weighed 3240-kg priced at Rs1.9million, auto parts with the carrier vehicle under section 157 worth Rs1.3million.
ASO Faisalabad confiscated items and the vehicle under Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act-1969 and forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
