Quetta Customs I&I confiscates Rs7.50m non-duty paid goods & vehicles

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated huge quantity of Iranian shawl and blankets worth Rs 7.50 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Ch. received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian shawl and blankets from Quetta into different cities.

He immediately constituted a raiding team. Team In-Charge, Preventive, Shafiq-ur-Rehman and others, enhanced surveillance on the Quetta Highway and started searching vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted a truck bearing registration No: KLE-6348 which was going out of the Quetta city.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 200 Irani Shawls and 500 non duty paid Iranian blankets worth Rs7.50 million. The customs team seized all shawls and blankets and arrested two smugglers including a driver.

The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta registered an FIR against the smugglers and started investigations. Smugglers were identified as Zahid Hussain and Safdar Ali

Earlier, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta impounded a large quantity of tyres worth Rs5million.
