Smuggling of drugs & Urea into Pakistan from Afghanistan frustrated

PESHAWAR: The customs staff posted on Pakistan-Afghanistan Border aborted an attempt of smuggling hashish and opium from Afghanistan into Pakistan on Thursday.

The truck bearing registration No: C-2997 was stopped in a routine checking at Charwazgai check-post at Landi Kotal by the border management force. Upon checking the truck, it found narcotics. The trucker tried to escape with the drugs hidden in the secret pockets of the truck but failed.

The customs staff took into possession the truck and apprehended driver Kabal Khan who hails from Afghanistan. The driver has been shifted to unknown place for further interrogation while an FIR also registered according to the Customs Act-1969.

The customs staff has also thwarted an attempt to smuggle Urea loaded truck which was carrying fresh vegetables. The National Logistic Cell along with the customs officials has impounded the truck loaded with Urea for taking further action against the driver at Jamrud Trade Terminal. The Urea seized numbered 150 bags.
