Collector Preventive holds important press conference over betal nuts scam today

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs have deepened the investigation against recovery of betal nuts from containers which were cleared from Port Qasim, violating the rules of Green Channel facility.

According to the details, Customs Preventive has announced a press conference over recovered hundreds of tons betal nuts in different raids worth millions of rupees. In the press conference overall details regarding the case will be shared with electronic and print media.

The Customs authorities will hold a press conference at conference hall situated at the 5th floor of Customs House building in noon. The Collector Custom Preventive Dr Iftikhar Ahmed will chair the press conference.

The source informed Customs Today that the Collector Customs Preventive Dr Iftikhar Ahmed will give a detailed briefing to the print and electronic media over the performance of the Customs Preventive Anti Smuggling Squad whereas he will also inform regarding the investigation against recovery of hundreds of tons betal nuts.

It is pertinent to mention here that Customs Preventive showing its best performance has apprehended six containers filled with betal nuts after a raid here on Wednesday at a godown in Korangi Industrial area which were cleared under the garb of scrap from Port Qasim through green channel.

On the other hand  the Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Anti -Smuggling Organization (ASO) busted huge quantity of betal nuts worth million of rupees after a successful raid at a godown situated at SITE area.
