Shipping Activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port where six ships, Maersk Hartford, MSC Busan, Yutai Breeze, Ogino Park, Amadeus and Al-Salam-II carrying Containers, steel coil, Phosphoric Acid, Soya Bean seeds and Diesel oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Bulk cargo carrier Pacific Victory also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day. Berth occupancy was observed at the port at fifty nine percent on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely, Maersk Hartford, MSC Busan, Yutai Breeze, Amadeus, Ionna Pol, Alam Molak, Ogino Park, Al-Huwaila, Horizon and Al-Salam-II are currently occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Steel coil, Soya been seeds, Coal, Phosphoric Acid, LNG, Palm oil and Diesel oil during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling remained upward trend at the port where a cargo volume of 183,763 tonnes, comprising 157,942 tonnes import cargo and 25,821 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,012 Containers (TEUs), (2,653 TEUs imports and 1,359 TEUs exports) was handled at during last 24 hours.

Two ships, gas carrier Al-Huwaila and Palm oil carrier Horizon sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while General cargo carrier Yutai Breeze and Container vessel Maersk Hartford are expected to sail on same day and night hours respectively. Yuhua Star is expected to take berth at Liquid Terminal on Wednesday. While ships Central Park and OOCL Washington with chemicals and containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day.
