The demands were made during the oath taking ceremony of the new cabinet of KU held in Bar Qambarkhel area of Bara on Sunday. The ceremony was attended by a large number of KU activists and local elders.

Speaking on the occasion KU candidate for NA-46 (Bara) Hameedullah Jan Afridi said that a selected group of Fata parliamentarians and leaders of some political parties were struggling for merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while ignoring the genuine problems of tribal people.

He said that thousands of families were living without any proper shelter after returning to their homes as government failed to conduct timely survey of their damaged houses and provision of compensation to them. Rejecting the proposed merger of Fata with KP, Mr Afridi said that a status of separate province would bring more benefits for the tribal people.
