Peshawar Customs foils attempt to smuggle Indian bananas to Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: Customs Collectorate mobile squad thwarted attempt of smuggling of Indian bananas to Afghanistan and seized four trucks loaded with smuggled bananas.

Sources told Customs Today that on a tip off received to custom mobile squad regarding the entry of smuggle vehicles loaded with Indian bananas for Afghanistan. The customs authorities flag down the vehicle on GT road and thwarted attempt of smuggling near Pabbi area.

The vehicle carrying bananas are bearing registration number HNR-3195, LET-7388, PE-1640 and RPT- 1655. The bananas are stated to be worth millions of rupees which were took under customs custody.

Meanwhile Custom authorities also seized vehicle of Chinese peanut weighting about 15000 kilograms. Smuggled goods were shifted to Peshawar Customs House for further necessary action.
