DC Saima serves show cause notice on alleged Toyota car smuggler

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Saima Ayyaz has issued a show cause notice to a suspect allegedly involved in the smuggling of Toyota Corolla car.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization Mianwali intercepted a Toyota Corolla car bearing Rregistration No: PN-004 near M. M Alam Road Mianwali.

The team asked the owner of the vehicle, identified as Sham-ud-Din, to show documents regarding the legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same. So the officials impounded the vehicle under the customs bylaws and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now Deputy Collector Saima Ayyaz issued a notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act-1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act and called the accused as to why said vehicle should not be confiscated under the aforementioned provisions of the bylaws.

However the adjudication has directed the accused to file a reply on the next date of hearing 22-3-2018. The seizing agency has also been directed to file the reply in the respective case.

The respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative before the undersigned at the office, the authority directed. The adjudication authority also directed the ASO Mianwali’s Assistant Collector Shah Smad Hamadani to attend the hearing on the scheduled date with the relevant record.
