Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue resumes hearing  on tax matter of M/s Huawei Technologies

Customs Appellate Tribunal issue notices in appeal by Chinese company

KARACHI: Special Customs Appellate Tribunal has issued notices to Collector Adjudication Asif Marghoob Siddiqui and other respondents in an appeal filed by DJP, a Chinese exploration company.

The tribunal, comprising Member Judicial Ghulam Mustafa Memon and Member Technical Tanveer Ahmed, after hearing a counsel from Franklin Law Associates representing the petitioner/appellant issued notice to the respondents adjourning the further proceedings for a week.

The appellant challenged the order by Collector Adjudication who up held the order by the subordinate staff. The custom authorities detained the equipment for exploration on ground that the “”Corporate Guarantee” furnished by Chinese company is fake. The customs disallowed refund of duty, taxes etc besides exemption was denied to the appellant company.
