Islamabad Customs lodges 8 cases of smuggled Indian bananas into Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad registered eight cases of Indian banana smuggling worth Rs1.39million and impounded eight offending vehicles valued at Rs6.3million during 7th to 21st of March FY17-18.

According to details explained by sources of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad that, during above said duration, the ASO launched a hard crackdown on Indian origin smuggling goods. The ASO seized a huge quantity of perishable smuggled items and took into possession offending vehicles priced at Rs7.69million.
He said that the ASO Islamabad frustrated its first attempt of smuggling 10400kg of Indian bananas into Pakistan priced at Rs0.643million and also impounded offending vehicle worth Rs1.0million. The ASO thwarted a second bid of smuggling Indian banana weighed 10528kg priced at Rs0.368million along with impounding an offending vehicle worth Rs1.00million.
He said that the ASO aborted a 3rd smuggling attempt of Indian origin banana weighed 8896kg valued at Rs0.311million along with taking into possession an offending vehicle priced at Rs1.5million. During the 4th seizure, the ASO confiscated 3000kg of Indian banana valued at RsRs.0.105million whereas it made a 5th seizure of Indian banana weighed 1120kg worth Rs00.392million along with an impounding offending vehicle priced at Rs0.5million.
It was told that the ASO Islamabad made its 6th seizure during 7th to 21st of March FY17-18 and lodged a case against the possessor of 3825kg of banana worth Rs0.8million whereas the ASO made its 7th seizure and registered a case against the possessor of 2314kg of Indian origin banana along with taking into possession an offending vehicle priced at Rs00.936million. It was added that the ASO impounded 400kg of Indian cashew nut worth Rs0.184million including an offending vehicle valued at Rs0.5million.
