ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accelerated its activities in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and has filed a reference against senior officials of the health department.
The regional office of NAB in Gilgit on Wednesday filed a reference in GB accountability court against former Health Secretary Dr Hasan Khan Ammacha, former Health Director Dr Nazeem Khan, Field Programme Officer Naseer-ud-Din, Field Monitoring Coordinator Sajjad Ali, Field Monitoring Coordinator Abdul Jabbar, Payroll Officer Rehman-ud-Din, Assistant Account Officer Inam-ur-Rehman, and Assistant Logistic Officer Muhammad Kamran.
These health officials would be investigated for allegedly making illegal appointments/adjustments in the National Programme for Family Planning and Primary Health Care in Gilgit-Baltistan during 2011-2013.
The appointing authorities, namely Dr Hasan Khan Ammacha and Dr Nazeem Khan, appointed the above-mentioned accused persons in violation of the laid down criteria by misusing their authority.
Also, some of the appointees had prepared fake appointment orders carrying forged signatures of the then health secretary and health director. A few individuals had even received different appointment orders at the same time.
Last month, the NAB regional office had arrested three officials of the agriculture department for allegedly embezzling over Rs20 million. The officers were allegedly embezzling this money through bogus bills and advertisements.
NAB officials arrested GB Agriculture Deputy Director Sir Syed Ahmad, along with cashier Shah Zareen and a disbursing officer from Gilgit.
