Deputy Collector Saima Ayaz issues notice to owner of NDP generator case

FAISALABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Saima Ayaz has issued a show cause notice to accused who is allegedly involved in smuggling of foreign origin generator 40-KVA which was also impounded by the ASO.

During checking of the vehicle ASO team intercepted a vehicle and recovered grey smuggled generator from the vehicle.

The team asked the owner of the goods and vehicle who introduced him as Muhammad Ashraf to show documents regarding legal import of the Generator but they could not produce the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded the smuggled generator under customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Deputy Collector Saima Ayaz issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act 1969 and called them to show cause as to why the said items should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

Hearing date of in this case has been fixed, while the respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative before the undersigned at his office.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs ASO Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
