Attempt of smuggling telephone copper cables & aluminum beverage cans frustrated

KARACHI: The Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta foiled a smuggling bid of telephone cables, and aluminum beverage cans worth Rs4million.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle telephone cables and aluminum beverage cans from Quetta city.

He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Superintendent Munawwar Ali, Saud Mirza and others. The team enhanced the surveillance at Nigar police check-post and started search of vehicles. The team intercepted a truck bearing a registration No: GVZ-362 which was going from Quetta to different cities.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 60 roles of copper telephone cables and 2000 beverage cans priced at Rs4million.

The customs team impounded all the cables and beverage cans and also a vehicle used in the smuggling and arrested four smugglers. Source said that an FIR will be launched after 48 hours against the smugglers.
