Karachi Customs impounds luxury vehicles’ parts worth Rs6m

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Karachi has taken into possession luxury vehicles’ radiators’ water bodies and three chasses priced at Rs6million on Thursday afternoon.

Sources said that Deputy Collector Gwadar received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle abovementioned items. He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Sardar Amir and others. The team, during a search operation on the Bar Highway Road, intercepted a truck bearing registration No: GN-7262.

During a search, the team impounded 50 radiators of luxury vehicles, 70 vehicles’ water bodies and three chasses of luxury jeeps valued at Rs6million.

The team impounded all the smuggling goods and apprehended two alleged smugglers including a trucker. Sources told CT that, after registering a case of smuggling against the suspect, the customs team started investigations.

It is to mention here that the Customs Collectorate has confiscated a huge quantity of smuggled goods including electronic items, Iranian diesel and mobile phones worth Rs5.25million during the first week of April.
