LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday has summoned Imran Ali, who is the son-in-law of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in an anti-graft investigation on Monday.

According to NAB officials, Imran Ali has been summoned to record his statement with the bureau in relation to an inquiry into his owning assets that do not match his declared sources of income.

NAB Lahore has recently launched several inquiries against bureaucrats and politicians, both from the government and opposition.

Ali made headlines earlier in 2012 when he was accused of torturing a bakery employee in Lahore. He was however later acquitted in the case.

Earlier on March 20, NAB summoned Federal Minister for Railways and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saad Rafique and his brother, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique in Paragon City corruption case.

On March 15, in an official handout, the anti-graft body’s spokesman said that NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal had approved investigation against Khawaja Saad, several PR officials and others for alleged embezzlement in the procurement of modern computer-based interlocking system, generators and other equipment for Rohri-Tando Adam Khan sector.
