LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has postponed the hearing of a case filed by Al Moiz Industries against the Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU). The FTO orders both parties to appear on the next date with complete record.

He added that the LTU has been collecting excessive tax from him for the last three years. He approached the officer concerned many times, but the LTU officials did not entertain his refund request even after a fall of a reasonable period.

At the end, the appellant decided to request the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) seeking his intervention in the case. The counsel appealed to the FTO Advisor to direct the LTU to clear refund claims.

The counsel further said that delay in release of refunds puts burden on the taxpayer, adding that the LTU should make audit of the case and release the extra amount collected from the taxpayer.

The respondent said in the argument that appellant should submit all the relevant record to the LTU then it will be able to assess the case and decide it in a better way.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the FTO called parties for arguments on the next date.
