SHC seeks comments on petition filed by M/s Textile Mode for restoration of STRN

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed customs officials to file their comments on a constitutional petition filed by Muhammad Farooq Rehman proprietor of M/s Textile Mode seeking restoration of its sales tax return number suspended by customs officials on Wednesday. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar heard the matter.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that it is engaged in the lawful business of manufacturing of textile, import & export and always fulfills all the liabilities according to law, however, officials of the customs authorities issued show cause notice to the petitioner and suddenly suspended its sales tax return number without fulfilling legal requirements.

Citing Secretary Ministry of Finance, chief commissioner Inland Revenue Corporate RTO, the Commissioner Inland Revenue IV Corporate RTO as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court to declare the act of the respondents as illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

He also pleaded the court to restore its sales tax return number immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till final order of his petition.
