Rawalpindi Excise challans 2,153 vehicles of tax defaulters

RAWALPINDI: Excise and Taxation Department has issued challan slips to 2,153 token tax defaulters’ vehicles during April and recovered nearly six million rupees.

Unregistered and token tax defaulters’ vehicles were checked during the operation in Rawalpindi district in April, said an Excise and Taxation Department spokesman.

The 12 teams constituted for the district on the directives of Director Excise, Tanveer Abbas Gondal under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Motor Vehicle, Sohail Shahzad checked vehicles’ documents on different roads.

The teams comprising inspectors conducted raids and the vehicles of violators were challaned. The teams checked over 6500 vehicles and also impounded a number of vehicles of the violators. The owners of properties and vehicles have been directed to pay their taxes at the earliest else strict action against the defaulters would be taken under the law.
