Police yesterday arrested a 57-year-old Norwegian man for watching child pornography at his home in the rural province of Chaiyaphum, where he had lived with a local wife.

The raid of Stig Kvale’s home was carried out following an alert from the Nordic Police and Customs Cooperation that he had previously been convicted on 11 counts of child molestation in Norway and would likely be a threat to the society.

If Kvale was hoping to not be seen as a threat to society, it would have been helpful had he NOT BEEN watching child pornography at the exact moment when police arrived at his modest home in Huai Ton sub-district. Police charged him with possession of child pornography after finding several illegal videos and images on his laptop.

Police will also investigate whether Thai children were among the victims in the material.

Local media reported that Kvale abused children in Norway between 1994 to 1999 and was convicted in 2002.

After his release from prison, Stig moved to Thailand in December 2009, spending most of his time in Pattaya (shocker!) before finally marrying a Thai woman in Isaan.

Police said that Stig and his Thai wife are unemployed (shocker #2!) and were looking to adopt children. Because that’s what you do when you’re an unemployed pedophile, apparently.
