Customs Export recovers evaded amount of Rs9.77m from defaulter companies

KARACHI: The Customs Export has recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs 9.77 million from defaulter companies which were issued notices to pay the outstanding dues.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s P.M.M International availed undue benefits and concessions by importing over lock machines by misusing the SRO 552 through Examiner Mateen Bilgrami on December 7, 2017.

Sources told that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 5.22 million. Investigation continued after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued it with a final notice on 1st  May, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within fourteen days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s P.M.M International deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on 11th May.

Sources told that another company, the management of the M/s Majid Excel and Engineering Works also cleared Rs 4.55 million of taxes and duties. Sources told that M/s Majid Excel and Engineering Works also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.
