ASO seizes Indian lemon & offending vehicle near Sanjhani Toll Plaza

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization has seized fresh Indian origin lemon including offending vehicles worth Rs.1 million from Sanjhani Toll Plaza Rawalpindi.

Sources of Anti-Smuggling Organization told Customs Today that due to tight vigilance under instructions of Collector Zulifaqar Chaudhry, the ASO established a check post near GT Road Rawalpindi and started checking of vehicles. The team intercepted a Ford wagon bearing registration no: 5772 and recovered 4000 kilogram of Indian origin fresh lemon.

The sources told that above mentioned foreign items as no proof under section 3(1) of the import and export trade Act 1950 is produced in respect of the said article these are as such prohibited under section 16 of the Customs Act 1969 the said articles seized and bring them to State Ware House where case has been registered against the possessor of non duty paid goods whereas case has been forwarded to I&P department for further investigation.

The seizure operation was conducted by Assistant Collector ASO Majid Hussain Gaad, Superintendent Malak Abid Hussain, Inspector Muhammad Hafeez and Inspector Syed Muhammad Ali along with assistance of customs staff of class v.

The ASO Islamabad have seized a huge quantity of perishable Indian origin smuggled goods during last two weeks under instruction of Federal Board of Revenue.
