Principal Appraiser Dost willfully creating hurdles for legal importers

KARACHI: Legal importers of Karachi are upset due to non-professional behavior of Principal Appraiser Dost Muhammad who is currently performing his duties at R&D section, Customs Appraisement East.

While talking with Customs Today, General Manager of M/s Samna International Yasir Abbas who is also office-bearer of Karachi Chamber and Commerce & Industry said that it is not a new issue, Dost Muhammad often creates unnecessary hurdles for importers using different methods. He said that he stops consignments without any reason, due to which backlog of consignments is witnessed at PICT because importers are demanded to produce different documents again and again.

Another importer Syed Gulam Memon who is owner of M/s Tajfeen Enterprises said that we have only one complaint about Principle Appraiser Dost Muhammad that he creates problems for importers. Most of Karachi-bases importers complaint against negative attitude of Principal Appraiser Dost Muhammad towards importers. He said now we will take up this issue in KCCI meeting.

Ch. Wasif Ahmed who belonged to M/s Summiya Fabrics said that all importers are on the same page that the FBR and customs high-ups should take action against this Principal Appraiser Dost because he didn’t do anything to stop smuggling rather he is involved in facilitating smugglers and discouraging legal importers.
