Multan Customs impounds non-customs paid vehicles during crackdown

MULTAN: Customs Collectorate Anti-smuggling Organization impounded non-customs paid vehicles during special crackdown.

According to details, Multan Customs received reliable information from their source that smuggled vehicles will be carried out through Khanewal Region to Sahiwal.

Acting upon the said information, Deputy Collector Customs Saqibur Rehman initiated action non-customs paid and directed Anti-Smuggling Organization to intercept the non-duty paid vehicles.

The Customs Collectorate formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization including Superintendent Habibur Rehman, Inspector Altaf Kareem, Inspector Abdul Samad, Ayaz Mahmood and others to foil attempt of smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles.

Deputy Collector Saqib-ur-Rehman supervised the whole operation of Anti-Smuggling Organization and alerted the anti-smuggling staff to check vehicles properly in their jurisdiction.

Anti-smuggling squad intercepted suspected Toyota Crown, Honda Accord, Suzuki jeep during patrolling of the specific routes after receiving information to foil any attempt of smuggling and enhanced monitoring of the entrance and exits of the region.

Anti-smuggling squad asked the drivers of the vehicles to produce the import documents of the said vehicles but they remained failed to produce legal documents. Anti-smuggling squad impounded the Toyota Crown Model 1996 and Honda Accord. Said vehicles were detained under Customs Act 1969 and further investigations against seized vehicles are still under way.
