M/s UK Corp moves SHC seeking restoration of ST registration number

KARACHI: M/s UK Corporation on Saturday moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking restoration of its sales tax registration number.

Counsel for the petitioner stated in its constitutional petition that in the month of August 2017 a notice issued required by the taxpayer under section 21 (2) read with sub clause 111 of rule 12 A of the sales tax act, 206 dated 04/08/2017 and after that show cause was issued to the taxpayer that why he should not be blocked listed being non-filer of sales tax returns for the period of Dec 2016 to May 2017. Counsel argued that despite legal proceedings its sales tax registration number was suspended.

Citing Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Commissioner IR, Zone-11, RTO-III, Karachi, Assistant Commissioner IR Unit-01 and others as respondents, he pleaded the court to declare that act of the respondents as illegal, mala-fide and arbitrary. He also pleaded the court to restore its sales tax registration number immediately.
