ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed to all customs collectorates to expedite the process of auction of confiscated vehicles and other goods and actively pursue the court cases.

Sources told Customs Today that it has been disclosed in a report by Federal Board of Revenue that certain Collectorates of Customs did not auction confiscated good/vehicles since long. The blockage of customs duty, sales tax, withholding tax and other government dues and loss due to deterioration has been estimated at Rs 134.924 million.

FBR has pointed out that under sections 82, 98, 169 and 201 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with CGO 12 of 2002, confiscated goods/vehicles are required to be auctioned after completion of formalities within the shortest possible time.

FBR has taken serious view of the lack of commitment and seriousness of the certain Collectorates regarding the auction of the vehicles and goods and asked them to explain the reasons.
