KARACHI: Car assemblers would likely to cancel advance booking for non-filers of income tax returns after July 01, 2018.
The federal government has announced amendments to Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 whereby non-filers of income tax returns have been restricted from booking and registering vehicles with effect from July 01, 2018.
According to amended law: “Any application for booking, registration or purchase of new locally manufactured motor vehicle or for first registration of an imported vehicle shall not be accepted or processed by any vehicle registering authority of Excise and Taxation Department or a manufacturer of a motor vehicle respectively, unless the person is a filer.”
With this amendment the car assemblers have stopped booking of locally manufactured cars for all non-filers including individuals and all corporate customers with immediate effect.
