Multan Customs Intelligence intercepts container of auto parts worth Rs6m

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) impounded a container which was loaded with engines and various auto parts during operation.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs I&I Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan received credible information from his source that huge quantity of smuggled goods will be transported through jurisdiction.

The Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation formed a special team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Malik Muhammad Nasir , Inspector Rab Nawaz, Inspector Amjad Ali and others to intercept the said container in Sadiqabad region and Customs staff was deployed at various strategic points to foil the smuggling attempt.

The above-mentioned squad of the Customs Intelligence intercepted a container near Sabzazar Check post of Sadiqbad which was loaded with huge quantity of foreign-origin goods. Customs staff asked the driver to present import documents of said auto parts loaded in the container .

During the physical examination of the goods, the Customs Intelligence team found different engines and other auto parts along with imported goods which were not mentioned in the import GDs of consignment. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation staff seized the container bearing registration number TKR-685 and shifted it to the warehouse of the Customs Intelligence for the verification of goods. The container was going to Kasur. The worth of the seized goods is nearly Rs6 million. Further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report.
