Quetta Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle electronics goods worth Rs9m

QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has foiled a bid to smuggle non custom paid electronics accessories include charging fans, batteries, room coolers and electric stove worth up to Rs 9 million during special checking.

Sources told Customs Today on Thursday afternoon, that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non custom paid electronic accessories from Quetta to Karachi

He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Shoaib Raza, Kazim Rizvi and others. The team enhanced the surveillance in Dirgi area and started searching of vehicles.

During the search operation, the team intercepted a full loaded truck bearing registration No: QB-8311 which was going from Quetta to Karachi.

During the checking, the customs team recovered 1000 pieces of 56 inch, Ceiling charging fans, 1500 batteries (75 Amph) 100 piece of room coolers, and 500 piece of electric stoves worth Rs 9 million.

The customs team seized all electronics items and arrested 2 smugglers. According to source, during investigation smugglers said, We don’t have any documents about these items, We have only go down gate pass. Source said we are investigating this case for more detail.
