Additional Collector Adjudication Imran issues show-cause notice to owner of NDP goods

ISLAMABAD: The Additional Collector Customs Adjudication has served a show-cause notice to the owner of smuggled foreign-origin electronics appliances.

According to show-cause notice no. Cus/ADC/Adj/41/2018/338 issued by the Additional Collector Adjudication Imran Ahmed Chaudhary, foreign-origin electronic goods i.e. LEDs, split air conditioners, etc were recovered during road checking near Backery Chowk, Rawalpindi  from an offending vehicle Toyota van registration no. LES-13-1511.

The notice further stated that at the time of occurrence, the driver which was later identified as Inayat made good escape by getting advantage of darkness, as he had no documentary evidence showing legal import or lawful possession of the recovered foreign-origin electronic and other goods.

Further to the show-cause notice, the Customs Collectorate has registered case no. 333/2018 against the offenders and seized the foreign-origin electronic goods and impounded the offending vehicle used a conveyance for transportation of the smuggled goods under section 157 of the customs act 1969.

Meanwhile, Additional Collector Adjudication Imran Ahmed Chaudhary issued show-cause notice to the owner of the smuggled goods and vehicle to show the cause under section 180 of the customs act 1969, as to why the f/o smuggled goods should not be confiscated and as why other penal action should not be taken against you upon the violation section 2(s) and 16 of the customs act 1969 read with section 3(1) of the Import Export Control Act 1950.
