M/s F.A.S Enterprises moves SHC seeking release of consignments

KARACHI: M/s F.A.S Enterprises approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday seeking release order of its consignment optical frames, wrist watches and other miscellaneous goods detained by customs officials.

Counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner has imported a consignment of assorted items including optical frames, wrist watches and other miscellaneous goods and filed goods declaration dated May 05,2018 declaring therein the consignment, strictly as per import documents and at their transaction value.

Counsel further argued that in addition to aforesaid consignment imported by the petitioner, respondents has also detained the more two consignments, consisting of similar miscellaneous goods, and detention/ hold of all three consignments is illegal and tainted with malice and greed.

Counsel argued that detention of the petitioner’s goods by the respondents is altogether illegal, discriminatory and in excess of jurisdiction conferred under the law.

Citing Secretary Revenue Division, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, Aamir Rasheed Shaikh, Director Directorate of Intellectual Property Rights, Deputy Director Directorate of Intellectual Property Rights and Collector of Customs Collectorate Port Muhammad Bin Qasim as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court may declare that act of the respondents is illegal, mala fide and arbitrary.

He also pleaded the court to direct them to release of its consignments immediately and restrain them from taking any coercive action against the petitioner.
