Multan RTO collects Rs35.63m under tax amnesty scheme

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) collected Rs35.63 million under the head of tax amnesty scheme so far.

Sources told Customs Today, that the Federal Board of Revenue managed to collect almost Rs35.63 million taxes under the money whitening scheme in the Regional Tax Office Multan.

Sources told that this scheme is introduced to expand tax base of the country and Federal Board of Revenue has also spread awareness in the business community about tax amnesty scheme after its launching.

The Federal Board of Revenue has displayed banners in the main markets to inform business community and others to bring them in the tax net. The Regional Tax Office has also organized seminars for the public awareness about tax amnesty scheme.

The Regional Tax Office has also established information desk for the general public and business community to facilitate maximum people through this scheme.

Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Dr. Khalil Ahmad informed Customs Today that 31 new taxpayers took advantage of newly launched tax amnesty scheme in the jurisdiction so far. As many as four tax returns have been filed under tax amnesty scheme and Regional Tax Office collected Rs5.75 million under tax amnesty scheme after its implementation. Tax authorities are still expecting that more taxes will be collected under tax amnesty scheme in near future.

The Regional Tax Office finalized a comprehensive report regarding tax collection under amnesty scheme and forwarded the same to Federal Board of Revenue for approval.

It is important to mention that ex-prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced amnesty scheme for tax evaders to bring them in the tax net of the country.
