Sarai Muhajir ASO seizes non customs paid goods

SARAI MUHAJIR: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized huge quantity of foreign origin non customs paid goods worth Rs 990720 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs 244455.

Sources informed Customs Today that an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Choudhary Muhammad Sardar thwarted many attempts of smuggling.

During a routine checking, the ASO team intercepted trailer near Sarai Muhajir Chowk Bhakkar driven by Muhammad Rafique. During the course of checking it was found that the truck was loaded with foreign origin goods. During checking, ASO team recovered submersible pump 12, screw pump 5, old and used auto parts 1300 kgs black tea 280 kgs Lelido Brand perfume spray 54 kgs Romania brand beauty soap 40 dozens and Hydro brand gasoline water pump 4 nos and document exposed that the goods are without lawful importation documents.

The driver of the truck was asked to produce the necessary import document but he could not furnish any. Hence the goods were detains under Section 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(1)2009 and Section 148 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.
