Chief Collector North Awais Agha to visit Sost Dry Port today

GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Chief Collector North Awais Agha will visit Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday (today) and will hold meeting with business community to finalize the issue of installation of WeBOC at Sost Dry Port.

Official sources of Gilgit Baltistan told Customs Today that the Chief Collector North last visited GB during the month of April 2018 to inaugurate the training sessions held at Sost dry port for local businessmen to get them trained before launching of  WeBOC system at Sost dry port.

Sources told that importers and exporters of GB had filed a plea against Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) before the Chief Court of GB to continue manual system of assessment and clearance of customs goods till settlement and enforcement of tax law in GB.

Sources added that they filed petition under Article 71 (2) of Gilgit Baltistan (Empowerment and Self Governance) order 2009 and enabling Articles of Constitution of Pakistan 1973 to the effect that the customs authorities may be restrained from introducing Web Based Online Customs (WeBOC) system at Sost dry port and be directed to continue manual system of assessment and clearance of customs goods till settlement and enforcement of Tax law in GB.

Sources notified that during month of May 2018, GB importers had met with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Pasha at his office and discussed issues relating WeBOC where representatives of GB Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Collector Feroze Alam Junejo were also present.
