Collector Export Saqif Saeed recovers Rs11.53m from M/s Bharta Traders

KARACHI: Collector Customs Export Saqif Saeed has recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs11.53 million from M/s  Bharta Traders and another company Amjad Ashraf & Sons.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Bharta Traders availed undue benefits and concessions by importing a consignment of power banks, new and used laptop, hard drive and so many computer accessories misusing the SRO 559 through Examiner Mumtaz Aiwan on January 13, 2018.

Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 6.53 million. Investigations were started after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued a final notice on June 13, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within 14 days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Bharta Traders deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on June 26, 2018.

While the management of the M/s Amjad Ashraf & Sons also cleared Rs 5 million of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s Amjad Ashraf & Sons also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 6th June. The management of M/s Amjad Ashraf & Sons deposited the evaded amount of taxes on 26th June.
