Hyderabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled fabric worth Rs15.86m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Intelligence & Investigation has seized large quantity of non-duty paid foreign origin gents suiting polyester fabric worth Rs15.86 million.

The director general of Customs Intelligence received information that a trailer loaded with smuggled fabric would be transported from Quetta to Karachi. Accordingly, picket was setup at Hatri Police Station bypass and a trailer was spotted coming from Quetta.

The vehicle was stopped and on checking assorted foreign origin fabric was found in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle Hikmatullah presented a goods declaration (GD), which did not match with goods and transportation receipt issued by M/s Sitara al Usman Goods Forwarding Agency, Quetta.

The claimants of the goods failed to produce any documentary evidence of legal import/possession of the goods. Thus, it was established that the goods were brought into the country through unauthorized routes without payment of duty and taxes. The goods have been seized and notice was issued against Hikmatullah, M/s Unique Enterprises Quetta and M/s Sitara Al Usman Goods Forwarding Agency.
