KUWAIT: Customs officers discovered what seems to be a 170-cm-long Ancient Egyptian statue hidden inside a couch shipped by air. The statue was sent to the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and is being examined in order to determine whether it belongs to the pharaonic era or not. A customs officer said a citizen came to collect office furniture that arrived from Egypt, and the statue was found during inspection. Action is pending until the examination results are complete.
Pigeons stolen
Environment police are looking for a man who stole pigeons from Shamiya. The incident, caught on video, showed a young man throwing a net on pigeons in Shamiya and taking them to his car. Police discovered that the pickup truck the youngster used belongs to an elderly man, and this may lead to his arrest soon. The fine in this case is KD 500 or a one-year jail sentence.
Central prison theft
Jahra police are looking for thieves who broke into vehicles of central prison employees, as two inspectors and a nurse reported the thefts. A female inspector at the prison told police that her phone and KD 5 were stolen from her car. Another female central prison inspector also reported that her phone, a purse and KD 510 were stolen from her car. Meanwhile, an Indian male nurse who works in the central prison hospital reported that two mobile phones and a wallet that includes his civil ID, driving license and ATM cards in addition to KD 80 were stolen. All thefts were by breaking the cars’ rear windows.
Traffic dispute
Ahmadi detectives are looking for several youths who attacked a citizen and his Jordanian friend in Abu Halifa. The Jordanian man was stabbed during the fight following a traffic dispute. The citizen’s car was totally destroyed, according to a police source.
