ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar visited Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) office on Wednesday.
Official sources told Customs Today that Shamshad Akhtar visited different sections and dedicated cell for Tax Amnesty Scheme of FBR.
The caretaker finance minister was briefed by Member Policy Dr Muhammad Iqbal regarding Tax Amnesty Scheme.
Iqbal briefed that the requirement of having bank account to pay the tax on assets disclosed by the filers through amnesty scheme is also a hurdle which caused low revenue collection.
The caretaker finance minister directed the Board to take immediate action and solve all the problems for the success of scheme. The date of amnesty scheme will not be further extended, the minister added.
Meanwhile, Shamshad Akhtar also directed the Board to conduct a full awareness campaign and explain each and every step pertaining to amnesty scheme.
It is important to mention here that Tax Amnesty Scheme proved to be a success. It can be called a landmark of PML-N’s government which it initiated at the last moment of its period. The government has collected more than Rs100 billion. This scheme indeed encouraged many to become the part of tax net.
