FBR to consult with Law Division over performance of ATIR

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) decided to consult with Law Division regarding its reservations on Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues.

Official sources told Customs Today that intense corruption has been revealed in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues (ATIR), where 40,000 of tax-related cases and appeals are under hearing involving worth of thousand of billion of revenue and the board is facing a huge revenue loss due to corruption in Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues, sources added.

Therefore, the board has serious concerns and decided to consult with Law Division for further strategy in this regard.

Sources also added that earlier Federal Board of Revenue with the consultation of Law Division contacted government for early resolution and to define the time frame for the cases conclusion in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue under the Article 186 of Constitution of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the board has also decided about the performance of FBR counsel which will be linked with the cases which have been won by the board, while the advocate who fails to get the decision in favor of board will be removed from FBR panel, sources added.
