PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation team foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics through G.T. Road on 18.7.2018.
A press release issued by the Directorate stated that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Dr. Arsalan Subectageen received credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin narcotics would be smuggle to Punjab through a vehicle via G.T.Road.
In anticipation, the Customs I&I team established a check-post near Rashakai Interchange district Nowshera to intercept the smuggled narcotics.
During checking of vehicle a suspected Suzuki Pickup bearing registration no: LES-9205 was seen coming from Peshawar side. It was signaled to stop. The vehicle was searched on spot and found contraband (heroin powder, charas and opium) tactfully concealed in CNG Tank of the Pickup, while two persons was arrested on the spot.
The Suzuki Pickup was then brought to the premises of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, where thorough search led to the recovery of 2 kilogram heroin powder (gross), 4 kilogram charas (gross) and 4 kilogram opium (gross) which has been seized along with carrier vehicle.
The estimated value of the aforementioned seized narcotics and vehicle is around Rs2.5 million (narcotics; Rs1.8 million and vehicle RsO.7 million).
Customs I&I team registered FIR against arrested two persons and further investigations are still underway till the filing of this report.
