Sri Lanka Customs seizes parcel with Rs. 20 million worth gold hidden in the airport

Colombo: Sri Lanka Customs officials have seized a parcel containing gold biscuits worth nearly Rs. 20 million hidden behind a water fountain at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

An employee of a Duty Free shop has found the parcel and handed it over to the Customs officials at the Departure terminal of the airport.

The officials have found 28 gold biscuits, each weighing 116 grams, packed in two empty cigarette packets. The gold biscuits weighing 3.248 kilograms in total have been valued at Rs 19,592,160.
