Faisalabad ASO seized non duty paid Hino truck

FAISALABAD: The Anti -Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized smuggled foreign origin used Hino truck worth Rs2,000,000 involving customs duty of Rs950,000 during raid against non-customs paid vehicles.

Sources told Customs Today that in pursuance of information received through Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig, the ASO team raided near Sheikhupura Road intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration number OKS-16-519 model 1992. During the checking of the truck, the ASO staff asked the accused person Naeem to produce any legal documents regarding seized vehicle but he failed to satisfy the customs officials.

Therefore, ASO seized the vehicle under Section 157 and 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act 1990 Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3 (1) 3 of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 after completion of all the legal formalities.

ASO team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Hafiz Muhammad Waqas and Sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen Liaqat Ali and others impounded the vehicle. The seizure report was sent to the customs adjudication department for further legal action.
