Top level reshuffle likely in FBR in near future

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is going to face huge reshuffle on top positions after taking over the government by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, it is learnt here.

Official sources told Customs Today that the chairperson FBR and Member Customs may be on the top to get reshuffled; however, the Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation would likely to keep his same position with his previous efforts and track record in curbing the smuggling, sources added.

Sources also added that the newly-appointed FBR chairperson, Rukhsana Yasmin, who is honored as first lady head of FBR but failed to collect the revenue in first month of fiscal year 2018, while the country is facing a huge deficit and it is needed to improve the revenue collection.

Sources said that the next expected PTI government is hopeful to increase the revenue collection to even more than the current assigned target and for this purpose, the next government will bring in its new team.

Dr Muhammad Iqbal might be given the leadership of FBR; however; Ms. Tasneem Rehman could also be considered as favorite for the head of FBR, sources added.

It is important to mention here that Imran Khan reiterated in his victory speech that he will do everything to restructure the FBR and he also promised that his government will stand high to safeguard the citizens’ taxes.
