Hyderabad Customs seizes NDP cosmetics, black tea worth Rs7.6m

HYDERABAD: Customs Collectorate team has seized huge quantity of black tea, non-duty paid cosmetics items and others things imported from Malaysia, worth Rs 7.6 million included truck being used in smuggling.

Sources told Customs Today that on 26.8.3028 information was received to Collector Khalid Hussain, that a truck along with non-duty paid cosmetics items and black tea would be smuggled to Karachi. Accordingly, team established check-post near Latifabad Road and intercepted truck bearing registration no: JB-0372.

The vehicle was stopped and on checking assorted non-duty paid cosmetic items and black tea was found in the truck with flour packets. The driver of the vehicle presented goods declaration (GD), which did not match with goods.

The claimants of the goods failed to produce any documentary evidence of legal import/possession of the goods. Thus, it stands established that the goods were brought into the country through unauthorized routes without payment of duty and taxes. The goods have been seized, worth of truck used in smuggling is Rs. 2.6 million. Total worth of Items Rs. 7.6 million.
