Faisalabad Adjudication DC Saima issues ONO in favour of ASO

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued Order in Original (ONO) in favour of Anti- Smuggling Organization Jhang by declaring the confiscation of smuggled skimmed milk and peanut worth Rs 984710 as lawful.

As per details, ASO Jhang intercepted a Mazda truck and asked the owner Muhammad Amir to produce the documents showing the legal import of the skimmed milk but he remained fail.

Therefore the officials impounded the skimmed milk and peanuts under Section 2(s) read with Section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and with Import and Export Act 1950 punishable under Section 156 (I) 89(i) of Custom Act 1969. Later the case was forward to adjudication for further proceedings.

However, the claimants have shown their willingness to pay duty and taxes on the seized goods which amount to confession. Hence it is proved that seized items are smuggled one. There order issued for confiscation of the seized goods in favor of the federal government under section 156(1)89 of the Customs Act 1969.

Therefore, an option is given to redeem the same in lieu of confiscation on payment of duty and taxes leviable on cloth plus a redemption fine 20% of the custom value to be appraised by the Customs Faisalabad under relevant customs law rules to lawful owners.
